InterServer’s Black Friday page offers 12 months of web hosting for $12. That’s 90% off, and it works out to $1 a month.

The deal is real. But there’s a catch buried in the checkout that no other page covering this offer seems to mention, and it changes whether you should take it. We’ll get to that.

What you get for $12

This is InterServer’s Standard Web Hosting plan, their only shared hosting tier. No upsell ladder to climb.

Two things to know. The $12 plan uses DirectAdmin, not cPanel. If you specifically need cPanel, that’s a different and pricier plan. And “unlimited” has a file count limit in the terms of service, so this isn’t the plan for a large media archive.

The catch: it renews at $84

Here’s what you only see once you reach checkout.

The order summary spells it out: $12 for 12 months, renews at $84 for 12 months. That’s $7 a month from year two onward. Your price goes up sevenfold.

This matters because InterServer’s whole reputation rests on their price lock guarantee, the promise that the rate you sign up at is the rate you keep forever. Nearly every article about InterServer repeats it. But the price lock does not apply to this Black Friday deal. The $12 is a one-year introductory price, exactly the kind of teaser rate the price lock is supposed to protect you from.

None of the dozens of pages ranking for this deal mention the $84. We only found it by going through checkout.

So is $12 still worth it?

Sometimes. It depends entirely on how long you plan to stay.

InterServer’s regular standard hosting plan costs about $2.50 a month, which is roughly $30 a year, and that one genuinely is price locked. So you’re choosing between two paths:

The $12 Black Friday deal: $12 for year one, then $84 every year after.

The regular price-locked plan: about $30 a year, every year, unchanged.

Run the numbers and the crossover lands at roughly 16 months. Take the $12 deal and you’re $18 ahead at the end of year one. Stay into year two and you fall behind fast. Over two years the Black Friday deal costs you $96 while the regular plan costs $60.

The practical rule:

• Staying about a year or less? Take the $12 deal. It’s the cheapest legitimate year of hosting you’ll find.
• Planning to stay longer? Skip it and sign up for the regular price-locked plan instead. You’ll pay more upfront and less forever after.
• Taking the $12 deal anyway? Set a calendar reminder for month 11. Either cancel, or call support before renewal and ask to move onto the locked rate.

That last option is worth trying. InterServer’s support has a reputation for being reasonable, and asking costs nothing.

The Black Friday branding is year-round

One more thing worth knowing.

That $12 page is branded as a Black Friday sale. Banner, “super discount” label, an urgency line telling you not to close the page. It looks like a limited November offer.

It isn’t. The same page with the same banner has been up for years. We first linked to it in 2022, and it’s still there today in the middle of September, unchanged.

Separately, search “InterServer Black Friday” and you’ll find dozens of pages promising 65% off. That figure is just the gap between InterServer’s $7 list price and their normal $2.50 rate. When InterServer announced their sale on their own Facebook page in November 2025, they said flat 50% off, not 65%.

The discount is real. The deadline isn’t. Buy it because the maths works for you, not because you think it disappears Monday.

Who this is good for

Good fit if you’re starting a first blog or small site, running a handful of client sites on a budget, or need somewhere cheap to park a project you’re not sure about yet. The unlimited-sites policy on a single $12 account is unusually generous at this price.

Skip it if you’re running a store with real traffic, need cPanel specifically, or want managed WordPress features like staging environments and built-in caching layers. At $1 a month you’re buying solid basic hosting, not a managed platform.
